Men's Tennis Beats Sage, Loses to MSMC

Patchogue, N.Y.- The St. Joseph's College men's tennis (2-5, 1-2 Skyline) went 1-for-2 in Skyline matchups over the weekend, losing to Mount Saint Mary (5-3, 3-1 Skyline), 6-3, on Saturday and defeating the Sage Gators (1-5, 1-4 Skyline), 7-2, on Sunday at home.   

The Golden Eagle's Saturday match was highlighted by strong performances from double partners Matt Reed (Medford, N.Y./ Patchogue-Medford) and Tom O'Keefe (West Babylon, N.Y./ St. John's the Baptist), who beat their visiting opponents, 8-2.  SJC gained two more victories on the day, in single match wins from senior Denzil Charles (Central Islip, N.Y./ Central Islip) (6-3,2-6,6-4) and Reed (6-0,6-4).

 St. Joseph's College "flipped the ship" on Sunday, dominating the Gators in both the double and single events.

The Golden Eagles were perfect through the double events, picking up three wins including double partners Reed and O'Keefe and Stephen Fox and Charles, who both beat the Gators with an 8-2 mark.

Fox and freshman Matt Dioguardio (Patchogue, N.Y./ Patchogue-Medford) headed the single event victories; with each Eagle recording two golden sets during their match.  Reed and O'Keefe added two additional wins, cruising past the Gators with Reed winning his sets 6-2, 6-0 while O'Keefe triumphed for 6-1,6-1 sets.

The men's team will play their final home conference match of 2015 against Yeshiva (7-3, 3-0 Skyline) this Thursday at the SJC Outdoor Complex at 5:30 p.m.
