Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team dropped a non-conference meet to the City College of New York, 8-1, on Thursday evening in its second competition of the 2016 season. With the loss the Golden Eagles fall to 0-2 (0-1 Skyline) on the year as the Beavers improve to 2-3.

St. Joseph's second doubles duo of Brian Merle and Matt Gilley earned the hosts' only victory of the evening, posting a 9-7 win over Rubin Lehman and Reginald Duvalsaint in the first completed match of the meet.

Chris Corrao and Peter Rasmussen suffered an 8-4 defeat to Max Bernstein and Andrew Chen in the first doubles fixture.

Defeats for Brian Merle and Victoria Panicola in third and fifth singles gave the Beavers a 4-1 edge, and, later, victories for CCNY in the first and fourth singles—which featured Corrao and Gilley, respectively—clinched the win for the guests.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday, March 31 when they travel to Newark, NJ to face Rutgers-Newark at 5:00 PM. Full recap here on sjcgoldeneagls.com following the action.
