Men’s Tennis Eases Past SJC-Brooklyn

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team picked up a 7-2 victory over St. Joseph's College (Brkln) at home on Sunday afternoon and improved to 2-8 (2-4 Skyline) on the year.

Brian Merle and Matt Gilley posted the first win for the Golden Eagles in their third doubles match, edging Nolan Parr and Matthew Smith for the 8-3 victory. Chris Corrao and Peter Rasmussen collected an 8-3 win of their own at first doubles, meanwhile Matt Dioguardo and Phillip Branigan took a 4-8 defeat at second doubles.

Rasmussen and Corrao increased the Golden Eagles' lead to 4-1 with second and first singles wins, respectively, and after Gilley surrendered a fourth singles bout to Carlos Mayorga, Branigan clinched the win for Long Island with a 6-2, 6-1, 7-5 win at sixth singles.
