Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Skyline Conference rival U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at home on Saturday morning.

With the loss the Golden Eagles fall to 3-6 on the year (2-5 Skyline) as the Mariners improve to 9-4 (6-2 Skyline).

USMMA swept the doubles matches with an 8-0 win at first doubles, an 8-2 win at second doubles and an 8-0 win at third.

Kevin Lankowicz was awarded a victory at first singles due to an injury to his opponent, James Hicks, but SJC went on to drop the five other singles matches. Cody Puglisi (#5 singles) was the only Golden Eagle to win any games in his 0-6, 3-6 defeat.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their regular season tomorrow, April 30, when they host first-place Yeshiva University at 1:00 pm.
