Four SJC Male Track Athletes Named to NJAC All-Conference Team

Press Release from the New Jersey Athletic Conference

PITMAN, N.J. — Rutgers University-Camden senior Matt Curtis has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference G. Larry James Men's Indoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Athlete for the 2013-14 season. His selection highlighted the 71-member NJAC men's indoor track & field all-conference team which was announced on March 12. All NJAC special awards were determined by a vote of the league's nine head coaches, while the league's all-conference honors were based on performances at the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships conducted at the New York Armory on March 1.

Curtis garnered the conference's top men's indoor award for the second consecutive season after capturing the NJAC crown in the 200 meters with an ECAC qualifying and a school-record time of 22.09. He also garnered the NJAC title in the 400 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of 48.57. A four-time NJAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week selection, Curtis also was a member of the Scarlet Raptors' NJAC champion 4x200 meter relay which produced an ECAC qualifying and a school-record time of 1:29.43.

The College of New Jersey's sophomore Jake Lindacher was named the NJAC Men's Indoor Outstanding Track Athlete. Lindacher claimed the NJAC championship in the 60 meter hurdles with a conference-record and an ECAC qualifying time of 8.33. A two-time NJAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week selection, he also finished as the conference runner-up in the 60 meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 7.11.

TCNJ senior Scott Lisa was selected as the NJAC Men's Indoor Outstanding Field Athlete. Lisa claimed the conference crown in the long jump with a conference-record and an ECAC qualifying leap of 6.99 meters. A six-time NJAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week selection, he also garnered the conference championship in the high jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 1.98 meters.

Ramapo freshman Roland Gamez was selected as the NJAC Men's Indoor Rookie of the Year. He finished as the conference runner-up in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying and a school-record leap of 6.94 meters. A four-time NJAC Indoor weekly honoree during his freshman indoor season, Gamez also was the conference runner-up in both the triple jump and the high jump events with respective ECAC qualifying leaps of 13.93 and 1.93 meters.

TCNJ head coach Justin Lindsey was selected as the NJAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year by his peers, marking the fifth consecutive season that the Lions' men's coach has garnered the honor. In his rookie season of 2013-14, Lindsey guided the Lions to a first-place finish in the NJAC Indoor Championship, marking the team's 17th consecutive men's conference title.
