SJC Track & Field Hosts Second Annual Golden Eagle Invitational

Patchogue, N.Y. - The men's and women's track and field teams commenced their outdoor season by hosting the Second Annual Golden Eagle Invitational.  Despite, the adverse conditions, the Eagles remained vigilant in both the responsibilities of hosting the meet in the pouring rain and competing in their respective events. 

The women's team scored in every event they entered.  The women's 4x100 consisting of Ashley Arquer, Kelly Ingarra, Samantha Baculy, and Mary Cipriano placed fifth.  Cipriano, Arquer and Baculy each also placed second in the 800m, 200m, and 400 intermediate hurdles, respectively.  Arquer also placed third in the 100m and long jump as well.

Samantha Maurice and Jenna Pearsall placed fifth in the 400m and 1500m.  Kelly Roberts completed the women's placing by taking fourth in the 800m.

The men's team got off to an exciting start as Brian Wersan placed third in the men's 1500m, Ian Sullivan placed fifth in the 110 high hurdles, and then Mario Mayen and Kevin Sanders placing first and second in the men's 400m.

Ian Sullivan also placed seventh in the 200m and John Suchopar concluded the men's places by taking eighth in the men's 5000m.

SJC will compete again this Saturday at the Ramapo Roadrunner Invitational in Mahwah, N.J.
