Utica, NY| Freshmen Kyle Biggers, Paul Curaro and Will Flohr combined for 26 kills as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road to SUNY-Poly inside the Wildcat Field House on Friday evening.

With the loss the Golden Eagles sit at .500 on the year with a 6-6 record as the Wildcats improve to 8-9.

Curaro collected six digs in addition to his nine kills, and Biggers hit at 50% while also recording nine kills.

Junior Tyler Jones dished out a team-best 31 assists and fellow classman Michael Barfield went for a team-high eight digs.

Essentially going point-for-point in the first set a Wildcat service error brought the Golden Eagles to within one point of the hosts (23-22) late in the frame, but it was SUNY-Poly that recorded consecutive kills to earn the 25-22 win.

SJC held the lead for virtually the entire second set but the Wildcats maintained pace and went ahead 24-23 following a Curaro service error. Flohr responded with a kill to knot the score at 24 but again it was the Wildcats that rallied for the final two points, this time claiming a 26-24 victory.

More of the same in the third as SJC dictated play early in the frame but allowed the hosts to tie the score at 12 midway through the period. Down 23-18, the Golden Eagles scooped up three of the next four (24-21), but Curaro's third service error of the match doomed the guests in a 3-0 sweep.

The Golden Eagles return to action tomorrow (Feb. 25) at SUNY-Poly when they face Arcadia University at 11:00am and Wilkes University at 1:00pm. Neither live video nor live stats will be available for either contest.
