Men's Volleyball Earns Sweeps Over Sarah Lawrence and Yeshiva

Bronxville, NY| The St. Joseph's College men's volleyball team picked up two Skyline Conference wins Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles earned a 3-0 sweep of Sarah Lawrence College before shutting out Yeshiva University 3-0.

St. Joseph's College (13-6, 3-0 Skyline) opened the match with a 25-3 win in set one before cruising to victory over SLC with 25-5 and 25-3 wins in sets two and three.

As a team, the Golden Eagles finished with a .587 hitting percentage and sophomores Paul Curaro, Will Flohr and Kyle Biggers recorded a match-high six kills apiece. Senior setter Tyler Jones tossed up a match-high 17 assists with sophomore Dan O'Keefe pitching in with 12 assists. Senior Alec Smalley recorded a match-best six digs with Matthew Amberge and Flohr finishing with five.

Ithal Diakov led the Gryphons with five digs on the day with Harris Silcott pitching in with four digs and the lone kill for SLC.

The second match of the day saw the Golden Eagles shut out the Maccabees 25-0 in the opening set before completing the sweep with a 25-17 win in set two and 25-6 in set three.

Biggers and Curaro were a perfect 5-for-5 in kills with Smalley and Matt Cole adding a match-high five kills as well. Flohr and David Slager came away with four kills each. Jones dished 17 assists and served up eight aces while libero Danny McNamera picked up six digs.

Joseph Sulaymanov led Yeshiva with four kills on the day with Chaim Aryeh Rubin adding three. Isaac Pomerance finished with seven assists with Derek Orenshein recorded five digs.

The Golden Eagles return to the Dazni Center when they host Hunter College and New Jersey City College on Thursday, March 15. Game times are set for 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
