Men’s Volleyball Picks up Pair of Non-Conference Victories

Boston, MA| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 victories over non-conference rivals Emerson College and Nichols College on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The wins propel the Golden Eagles to 3-1 on the year as Emerson and Nichols move to 1-1 and 0-2, respectively.

SJC 3, Nichols 0

Junior Kyle Biggers powered SJC in the opener, hitting .583 in the match and recording a game-best eight kills.

Junior Paul Curaro went for six kills and five digs, and fellow classman Will Flohr put down six kills and was credited with a game-high nine digs.

Senior Tyler Jones dished out a game-best 13 assists and had four digs.

The Golden Eagles cruised to 25-11 and 25-12 wins in the first and second sets, respectively, before edging out Nichols 25-19 in the third set.

SJC 3, Emerson 0

Biggers picked up where he left off in SJC's second match, having hit a game-high .727 for a team-best eight kills.

Curaro went for five kill, four digs and three service aces, and senior Danny McNamara was credited with a game-best 11 digs.

Jones was the top distributor with 24 assists while Emerson's Mark Piorkowski put down a game-high 16 kills.

SJC stormed to a 25-8 win in the first set and later earned 25-19 victories in the second and third sets.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, January 29 when they host Lehman College for a non-conference contest inside the Danzi Center at 7:00 pm.
