Men's Volleyball Starts Skyline Play with a Sweep

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team opened up Skyline Conference action with a 3-0 sweep over St. Joseph's College (Bklyn) in the Danzi Center on Wednesday night.

The Golden Eagles improve to 12-2 on the season with a 1-0 conference mark. The Bears dip to 1-10, 1-1 Skyline.

SJC hit 58.2% as a team and was led by junior David Slager, who put down a game-high nine kills while hitting at a .692 clip.

Freshmen Sean Williams and Thomas Renick contributed seven and six kills, respectively.

Setters Tyler Jones and Michael Siriban dished 14 assists apiece with the latter serving up a game-best four aces.

St. Joseph's stormed to a 25-5 victory in the first set to take an early match lead. SJC-BK had its best showing in the second set but was topped 25-18 before a 25-7 Golden Eagle win in set three secured the win.

The Bears were led by Dejon St. Rose-Cuffy with four kills and two blocks. Setter Timothy Boyd recorded eight assists and Tim Driscoll finished with four digs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 16 when they travel to Hunter College for a pair of non-conference contests. SJC will face No. 2 Stevens Institute of Technology at 12:00 pm before taking on Hawks at 2:00 pm.
