Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Participate in ECAC Championships

Williamstown, MA| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's cross country teams both participated in the ECAC Championships in Williamstown, MA on Saturday afternoon, earning 18th and 13th place finishes, respectively.

Freshman and Skyline Conference individual champion Ryan Haun established a new school-high 8k time of 27:46.93 with a 34th place finish in the men's race. He was followed by sophomore Nick Morfesi, who checked in at 59th with a 28:11.26 time.

Rounding out the men's top-five was senior Michael LoSchiavo (90th, 28:50.02), junior Nick Diaz (122nd, 29:25.99) and junior Tim Elgort (196th, 31:22.17).

The women's 13th place finish was powered by senior Brittany Guttieri, who posted a 5k time of 24:45.64 to place 51st. Two places behind her was fellow classman and Skyline Conference individual champion Samantha Maurice (24:49.73).

Skyline Rookie of the Year Erin MacDonell (25:10.28) finished 72nd, senior Katie Scharrenbroich (25:17.92) took 77nd and junior Megan Lavery (25:56.94) placed 113th.

Both the men and women placed higher than any of their Skyline competitors. Amherst College was crowned men's champion, while Tufts University claimed the women's crown.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, November 14, when they compete in the NCAA Regionals at Letchworth State Park in Castile, NY.
