SJC Sweeps Purchase in Double-Dip with 25 Hits

Patchogue, N.Y. - St. Joseph's (14-10, 5-1 SKY) rocked Purchase (2-9, 1-3 SKY) with 25 hits over two games in a doubleheader sweep of the Panthers at home, 9-1 and 7-1.

Junior Samantha Carcano had a big day as she went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, a double and a steal in game two.    In the first game, she had two hits, two runs scored and another steal.

Also in game one, Julia De Carmine went 3-for-3, Nicole Reda smashed an RBI triple, and Gina Moscatelli had two hits.  Julianne Tierney and Vienna Costanzo both contributed with RBI doubles.

In the pitching circle, De Carmine went five innings and allowed only two hits and one run while striking out three for the first victory.

In game two, SJC jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and Cassie Martinez held the Panthers to one run and six hits, while striking out seven for the win.

Mallory McClafferty (RBI double), Regina Rogers (two-run single) and Tierney all had big knocks in game two.
