Patchogue, N.Y. – The Lady Eagles (13-7, 5-2 Skyline) beat the Polytechnic Fighting Blue Jays (0-12, 0-6 Skyline) in both games of the doubleheader, 9-1 and 8-3, on Wednesday evening. SJC has won 10 of its last 13 games.

The Eagles got their offense started early in game one with three first inning runs. The lone hit in that inning for the Eagles was an RBI triple by Samantha Carcano (Centereach, N.Y./Newfield) . SJC put two more on the board in the third inning with a Nicole Reda (St. James, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) RBI double and Jen Fazio (Islip, N.Y./Islip) RBI single. The Eagles kept piling on the runs adding another in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Reda and Fazio ended the game by mercy rule.

Cassie Martinez (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) pitched another gem for the Golden Eagles, conceding just one runs in six innings pitched, striking out five. Reda went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Fazio finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

SJC carried their offense into game two with five runs in the first. Lindsay Corriss (Sayville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) led off the game with a single and two batters later, Julianne Tierney (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) hit one out of the park, her fourth of the season. Reda and Megan Leun (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) singled and were brought home by a Casey Thomas (Bellmore, N.Y./Mepham) two-RBI double. Tierney had an RBI double in the third to put the Eagles up 6-0. After giving up three runs in the fifth to Polytechnic, the Lady Eagles got two more runs back in the bottom half of the inning.

Just as she did in game one, Martinez pitched well again, surrendering just two earned runs in seven innings and striking out eight. Tierney went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.
