Al Sciangula Notches 200th Win as SJC Softball Coach

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College softball (22-13) team split a doubleheader with the College of Staten Island (15-12), dropping game one, 4-3, but picking up the 9-3 win in game two to give head coach Al Sciangula his 200th collegiate career victory.

Sciangula started with St. Joseph's in the 2005 spring season and has posted a 200-154 record since that time.  His teams have had much success during his tenure as they made two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2006 and 2008.

Their 2006 NCAA Tournament appearance was the first for the softball team since 2000 and they became the first in SJC history to win a contest in the Regional Round.  In 2008, they were NCAA DIII Regional Tournament Finalists and they finished the season ranked #18 in NFCA.

In 2012, Sciangula's team won the ECAC Metro Tournament.
