Myrtle Beach, SC| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team was handed two losses by non-conference rival Greensboro University, 7-2 and 3-2, at the Snowbird Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC on Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles, now 0-4 on the year, dropped both games of a doubleheader to The Pride (10-10) on Wednesday as well.

Greensboro 7, SJC 2

Down two 2-0 heading into the third, senior Kristen Arbiter (2-for-3) got SJC on the board when she scored sophomore Franzelyn Russo (1-for-3) with an RBI single to left field.

A five-run fourth—highlighted by a Cassie Collins (2-for-4) grand slam—saw The Pride go up six runs 7-1 before senior Theresa Cardello (1-for-3) capped off the opening game's scoring with a sacrifice hit to second that saw freshman Zoe Kelly (1-for-3) advance home.

Senior Ashley Blydenburgh (0-1) made her first start of the season and allowed two earned runs in 3.2 innings of action. Senior Lauren Buturla allowed two hits in 3.1 innings out of the bullpen.

Greensboro 3, SJC 2

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Cardello's (1-for-4) grounder allowed Russo (2-for-4) to score to give SJC its first advantage of the season.

Scoreless till the top of the fifth, Arbiter (3-for-4) homered to double St. Joseph's lead (2-0) but it was short-lived as Greensboro brought the game back to one (2-1) via an RBI double in the bottom half of the inning.

Stuck in a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the bottom of the seventh, SJC succumbed to defeat in walk-off fashion when Greensboro's Taylor Little (1-for-4) knocked in a pair of runs to clinch a 3-2 victory.

Buturla (0-2) tossed a complete game, allowing zero earned runs while striking out one Greensboro batter.

The Golden Eagles return to action in Myrtle Beach on Friday, March 9 with a pair of exhibition games vs. Mercer Community College at 10:00 am.
