Track and Field Participates at the Wagner College Invite

Staten Island, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's track and field teams participated at NCAA Division I Wagner College's annual invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY on Friday.

Faring best on the men's side was senior Brandon Linbrunner, who finished 24th out of 60 competitors in the men's 200-meter run with a time of 23.66--four-tenths of a second off the SJC indoor record.

Freshman Thomas Newham's 2:06.45 time in the 800-meter run was good enough for 38th in a field of 56 and senior throwers Alex Becker (10.18m) and Joseph Wetzel (9.29m) took 36th and 37th, respectively in the shot put event.

Junior Jennifer Holownia powered the women winning her 400-meter finals section with a time of 1:03.08 that was good enough for 19th place overall. She'd go on to finish 18th in the long jump finals with a distance of 4.87m.

Sophomore Briana Shand took 35th in the 200 meter run with a time of 28.24 and senior Erin MacDonell finished 33rd (5:38.60) in the women's mile final.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, January 13 when they participate in the Yale Collegiate Invitational at Yale University.
