Indoor Track and Field Hosts St. Joseph's College Invitational

South Huntington, NY| The Golden Eagles indoor track and field team hosted the St. Joseph's College Indoor Invitational at St. Anthony's High School Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Thomas Newman had the top finish on the men's side coming in third out of 51 runners in the mile with a time of 4:39.64. Junior Ryan Haun placed sixth in the men's 3000-meter race with a time of 9:29.73 before posting a time of 2:12.04 in the 800-meter run for a 23rd place finish. Senior Mike O'Shea and freshman Rayneri Ruiz competed in the 200-meter dash recording times of 25.12 and 25.42 respectively.

On the field, freshman Brandon Phan came away with a 10th finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.08 meters.

On the women's side, sophomore Erin MacDonell placed third in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:57.47.  Freshmen Meagan Haviland and Karli Murphy had top ten finishes in the mile race coming in at sixth (5:47.18) and eighth (5:50.52) place respectively.  Junior Jennifer Holownia placed eighth out of 72 runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.99 with sophomore Briana Shand finishing just behind her at 28.19 for 13th place.

The Golden Eagles close out the indoor season at the NJAC Championships at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex Monday, Feb.19.
