Track and Field Competes at Queenborough Relays

Bayside, NY| The St. Joseph's College outdoor track and field team competed at the Queensborough Relays hosted by Queensborough Community College on Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side freshman Meagan Haviland placed second in the 1,500-meter race with a season-best time of 5:14.26. Senior Erin MacDonell recorded a personal best time of 41:11.29 in the 10,000-meter race turning in a second-place finish.

Junior Jennifer Holownia set an SJC record with a time 1:09.05 in the 400-hurdles placing second out of 13 runners. Sophomore Briana Shand crossed ninth in the 100-meter race recording a time of 13.51 with Gabrielle Mason just behind at 14.62.

Shand, Mason, Holownia, and Havliand teamed up for a first-place finish in the Sprint Medley Relay with a time of 4:42.68. Karli Murphy, Jennifer O'Connor, Victoria Quinones and Stephanie Surrusco placed third in the 4x800 relay with a time of 12:35.88.

For the men, senior Brandon Linbrunner finished fifth in the 100-meter race recording a time of 11.60 with sophomore Anthony Figorito finishing behind him with a time of 12.23.

Junior Ryan Haun placed fourth out of 17 in the 10,000-meter race with a time of 36:54.51. Freshman Thomas Newham turned in a time of 4:22.30 for a sixth-place finish in the 1,500-meter with freshman Jeremy Anderson just behind in ninth with a time of 4:33.16.

Junior Daniel Antonawich came in fourth out of 17 in the 400-hurdles with a time of 59.41 with freshman David Maitre coming in seventh at 1:02.42.

The 4x100 relay team of Figorito, Brandon Phan, Antonawich and Linbrunner broke the SJC record and took home a first-place finish with a time of 44.32. The 4x400 relay team of Figorito, Phan, Newham, and Linbrunner finished third (3:43.30) and the Sprint Medley Relay team of Rayneri Ruiz, Maitre, Anderson, and Antonawich also placed third with a time of 4:11.02

On the field, Maitre finished second in the high jump with a distance of 1.67 meters. Senior Joseph Wetzel finished 18th with a throw of 9.26 in the shot put.

The Golden Eagles return to action at the Coach "O" Invitational hosted by USMMA in Kings Point, NY on Saturday, April 22.
