Outdoor Track and Field Competes at Inaugural Skyline Track Championship

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College track and field teams both finished fourth at the Skyline Conference Outdoor Track Championship held at Farmingdale State College Sunday afternoon. The Rams took home first place in both the men's and women's competition with the United States Merchant Marines finishing second.

On the women's side, Briana Shand placed second in the 100-meter and 200-meter races with times of 13.52 and 27.84, respectively. Karli Murphy finished third in the 800-meter with a time of 2:36.11 with Meagan Haviland coming in just behind in fourth at 2:37.84. Both competed in the 1500-meter race this time with Haviland placing second with a time of 5:04.12 and Murphy finishing fifth at 5:24.02.

Jennifer Holownia took home first place in the 400-hurdles with a time of 1:10.25, as well as a second place, finish in the long jump with a distance of 4.75 meters. Stacy Sinkoff came in third in the 3000-Steeplechase with a new school record of 13:28.17.

The 4x100 relay team of Holownia, Gabrielle Mason, Stephanie Surrusco and Shand came in third with a time of 54.10 and the 4x400 relay team of Holownia, Murphy, Haviland, and Shand finished second with a time of 4:30.59.

For the men, Brandon Linbrunner had fourth-place finishes in both the 100-meter and 200-meter races with times of 11.59 and 23:41, respectively. Anthony Figorito came in third in the 400-meter race with a time of 51.78. In the distance races, Thomas Newham finished second in the 800-meter with a time of 2:02.73 and fourth in the 1500-meter coming in at 4:20.68. In the 5000-meter, Ryan Haun finished third out of nine with a time of 16:31.62.

Dan Antonawich took home third in the 110-hurdles coming in at 16.85 and finished first in the 400-hurdles with a time of 59.02 with David Maitre just behind him in second recording a time of 59.43.

Both the 4x100 relay team (Firgorito, Antonawich, Brandon Phan and Linbrunner) and the 4x400 relay team (Figorito, Newham, Phan, and Linbrunner) finished second with times of 43.84 and 3:28.57, respectively.

On the field, Phan came in first out of 12 in the Long Jump with a 6.19-meter mark. The freshman came in second in the Triple Jump recording a distance of 12.67. In the High Jump, maître placed second at 1.69 meters. Mason posted a 2.89-meter mark in the women's Pole Vault.
