A Grand Affair as Bender Hits Milestone in Win Over New Rochelle

Patchogue, N.Y. – Senior forward Amanda Bender (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) scored her 1,000th career point as she led St. Joseph's (5-2) with 29 points in a 66-50 win over the College of New Rochelle (3-5) Saturday afternoon at the Danzi Athletic Center.  The four-year player has now scored 1,013 points in her career, good for fourth place on the Golden Eagles all-time scoring list.

Twenty-four of Bender's 29 total tallies came in the first half of the game and she was 12-for-22 from the field on the day.  The historic basket came with 9:20 left in the first half as she layed in a pass from junior forward Danielle Hamlin (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach).

Also in double figures for the Eagles were junior guards Christina Cohen and Laura Cohen (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) with 13 and 12 points, respectively. 

Jasmin Brandon of the New Rochelle Angels led the visitors with 21 points.

St. Joseph's does not return to the court until December 20 for a road contest at Lehman College at 7:00 p.m.  Following that, they will travel to Orlando, Florida for the ECAC Holiday Festival on December 28-29.
