ECAC Tabs Bender as Women's Hoops Metro Player of the Week

ECAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week (for week ending December 9, 2012)

Division III – Metro
Amanda Bender – St. Joseph's-L.I.
Senior, Forward, East Northport, NY

Bender led St. Joseph's-L.I. to a pair of wins as she averaged 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. She scored 29 points and added seven rebounds and four blocks on Dec. 8 in the Golden Eagles' 66-50 victory over the College of New Rochelle. Bender scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a 64-60 win versus St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Dec. 5. She knocked down 17-of-30 shots from the field and moved into fourth place in program annals with 1,013 points.

Division III – New England
Lucy Tremblay – MCLA
Senior, Guard, East Greenbush, NY

Tremblay averaged 26 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 3.3 assists in 2-1 week for Trailblazers. She scored 39 points, including the 1,000th of career, in 86-75 win over Saint Joseph (Conn.). Tremblay added 25 points in 74-69 setback at Union.

Division III – Upstate
Brittany Marshall – Plattsburgh State
Sophomore, Guard, Malone, NY
 
Thanks to the play of Marshall, the Cardinals are off to their best start since the 2001-02 season. The Malone, NY, product averaged 20 points per game in a pair of SUNYAC victories last week and hit on 50 percent of her field goal attempts. The league's assist leader, she passed out four per game last week. She has also helped the Cardinals to their longest SUNYAC winning streak since the 2002-03 campaign as Plattsburgh State sits in third place in the league standings in the early stages of the 2012-13 season.

Division III – South
Kate McDonald – Juniata College
Junior, Forward, Furnace, Pa. 
 
McDonald led Juniata to wins over DeSales and Eastern this week. In Wednesday's game at DeSales, she had a game-high 22 points and eight rebounds on 8-for-15 shooting. On Saturday, McDonald scored 19 points on 9-for-13 shooting to lead the Eagles to a 76-59 victory at Eastern. She finished the week averaging 20.5 points per game while shooting 60.7 percent from the field. McDonald was also perfect from the free throw line finishing 7-for-7 this week. She added seven assists and five blocks in the two wins.
