Vassar Extends W. Basketball's Winless Streak to Five

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's Lady Golden Eagles (0-5) are still searching for a tally in the win column following a losing effort against Vassar College (5-0) on Wednesday night as the Brewers defeated SJC, 88-41.

The Eagles put themselves in an 11-2 hole to begin the game and couldn't climb out. After cutting the lead down to six, the Eagles went on a five minute scoring drought. That dry spell didn't put them down and out but the next drought would. The Lady Eagles went scoreless from the ten minute mark until the 2:47 mark and the Brewers took advantage jumping out to a 34-11 lead.

The Eagles trailed by twenty at the end of the first half but Vassar didn't let up in the second half. They extended the lead to 26 but the Lady Eagles cut the deficit down to 19. Vassar refused to let St. Joseph's back into the game; outscoring them 33-6 over the last twelve minutes of play.

Danielle Hamlin (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) filled up the stats sheet nicely with 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks. Christina Cohen (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) was the only other Eagle in double figures, finishing with 13 points and four rebounds.

The Eagles will host New York University in another non-conference affair this Saturday at 3 p.m.
