NYU Sends Eagles to Sixth Defeat With Offense Outburst

Patchogue, N.Y. — The Lady Golden Eagles (0-6) took a drubbing on Saturday, losing to the undefeated NYU Violets (7-0), 85-38.  This loss marks the team's sixth of the season, having yet to achieve their first win.

NYU asserted themselves early on, hitting a three-pointer less than thirty seconds into the game and refusing to slow down until the final buzzer.  The Eagles, though playing aggressively on both ends of the court, could not seem to make their possessions count, shooting 23.1% from the field and 23.1% from the three-point line at halftime, with the Violets leading 42-18.

The Eagles' struggles on the three-point line only grew in the second half while the Violets continued to beat them out on the boards.

Danielle Hamlin (Centereach, N.Y./ Centereach) led the Lady Eagles with ten points, seven rebounds and an assist. Laura Cohen (Smithtown, N.Y./ Smithtown East), Kayleigh Stapleton (Hauppauge, N.Y./ Hauppauge) and Christina Cohen (Smithtown, N.Y./ Smithtown East) each chipped in with eight, seven and six points, respectively.

The Eagles will host the Merchant Marine Academy on December 18 for a 6 p.m. game.
