W. Basketball Shutdown by Farmingdale in Second Half on Way to Loss

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team held St. Joseph's to only 19 second half points as they earned a 66-45 victory. The Rams improved to 7-7 overall and 4-1 in the Skyline Conference, while the Golden Eagles fell to 1-13, 1-4 Skyline.

Leading 19-16 with 4:33 remaining in the first half, Farmingdale State used a 10-2 run to increase the advantage to 11, 29-18. St. Joseph's senior forward Danielle Hamlin (Centereach, N.Y.) hit a jumper followed by back-to-back 3-pointers to close the half with the Golden Eagles trailing 29-26.

Farmingdale State held a 44-37 advantage with 12:02 left to play, before an 11-0 run put the Rams on top 55-37. Farmingdale State allowed only eight points over the final 7:05 en route to the 66-45 win.

Junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) tallied a team-leading 21 points, while sophomore guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored 14 points and had five assists. Senior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) pitched in with 11 points, four assists and four steals.

Hamlin led all scorers with 27 points and added eight rebounds for St. Joseph's.

The Rams next will travel to Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m.  St. Joseph's will host Purchase at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
