Iavarone & Vazquez Win Skyline Weekly Honors for 2/23

New York, N.Y. – Andrea Iavarone picks up her fourth Skyline Conference Women's Rookie of the Week award and Fernando Vazquez earned a share of the Men's Player of the Week award in the 2/23 Skyline Conference Report.  Vazquez splits the honor with Mark Gjonlekaj of Old Westbury.

Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Andrea Iavarone – St. Joseph's-L.I.
Freshman, Forward, Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place HS
Iavarone averaged 13.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Golden Eagles…scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed eight boards on Feb. 21 as SJC closed out its season with a 48-44 win over Mount Saint Mary…recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 70-56 loss to Farmingdale State on Feb. 17…tabbed the Skyline Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week
Fernando Vazquez – St. Joseph's-L.I.
Sophomore, Forward, Babylon, N.Y./Babylon HS
Vazquez averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals while shooting 9-of-17 from three-point range in a 1-1 week for SJC…scored a game-high 23 points on Feb. 17 in the Golden Eagles' 63-47 win versus Farmingdale State…added 18 points and 10 boards in a 95-89 loss to Old Westbury on Feb. 19…also made 8-of-9 shots from the foul line on the week.
