Patchogue, NY| Sophomore forward Andrea Iavarone logged her 14th double-double of the season as St. Joseph's (L.I.) was defeated by Skyline Conference opponent, Old Westbury, 77-43 Wednesday night inside the Danzi Center.  The defeat marked the second-straight loss for St. Joseph's, which dropped the Golden Eagles to 6-14 (3-8 Skyline) on the season as the Panthers improved to 17-3 (10-1).

Against the top seed in the Skyline Conference, Iavarone posted a team-high 11 points, while chaining the defense with a game-high 12 rebounds, with a rejection and a steal. Old Westbury jumped ahead early against the Golden Eagles, outscoring the home team 21-8 in the first quarter.

Freshman Asia Rountree opened the second quarter with a made shot for St. Joseph's before the Panther's offense continued their momentum. At 4:16, down by 22 points, Michelle Lupoli inserted life into the home team's offense, assisting Iavarone in the post and scoring a layup of her own.  Old Westbury responded quickly, finishing the quarter with a 44-22 lead.

St. Joseph's strongest period came in the third, where they controlled the pace offensively and defensively. Jackie Zizzo hit back-to-back three pointers to help her team win the quarter 12-8, taking a 52-34 deficit into the fourth.

Old Westbury put the clamps down in the final period, scoring 25 points to finish out the win 77-43.

After the first unit failed to connect from beyond the arc, Zizzo was the highlight off the bench totaling three triples and adding four assists and three rebounds.

St. Joseph's will look to rebound in its next contest as the Golden Eagles prepare to take on Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday (Feb. 6) in the Danzi at 1:00 PM. Live stats will be available here.
