Newark, NJ| On Saturday, senior Andrea Iavarone posted her third double-double in as many games in the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team's 71-60 defeat to Rutgers-Newark on the final day of the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic.

For the second-straight game, Iavarone established a career-best for rebounds in a single game (25) and fell one short of the program's record held by Kristin Bihary.

Additionally, the forward led the team with 17 points, shot a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe and was the only Golden Eagle to be included in the All-Tournament Team.

Iavarone powered a well-balanced offense that saw senior Jennifer Gubell contribute 11 points. Junior N'Dea Maddox and freshman Jami Cardena scored nine points apiece.

Down only six after the first quarter (15-9), SJC fell victim to Rutgers-Newark's 25-point second quarter and entered the break down 40-28.

The hosts expanded their lead to 18 points (61-43), but SJC outscored its opponent 17-10 in the fourth to ensure the defeat was only by an 11-point margin.

St. Joseph's held a steep advantage beyond the arc, outshooting Rutgers-Newark 28.0% to 6.7%, and matched the hosts' 53 rebounds on the afternoon.

Crucial to Rutgers-Newark's win was forcing SJC into 31 turnovers and scoring 25 points off of them.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, November 22 when they travel to Manhattan to face CCNY in a non-conference contest at 6:00 pm. Follow the action live here.
