Iavarone Notches Fifth Double-Double in Women’s Basketball’s Loss to Mt. St. Vincent

Patchogue, NY| Senior forward Andrea Iavarone scored 25 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season in the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team's 67-61 defeat to the College of Mount St. Vincent inside the Danzi Center on Thursday evening.
With the loss, the Golden Eagles slip to 2-4 on the year and 0-2 in Skyline Conference play as the Dolphins move to 2-1 (1-1 Skyline).
Iavarone led all players in both points and rebounds and was one of three players to dish out a game-high five assists.
Junior Alicia Indence went for 11 points and was also credited with five assists. Senior Jennifer Gubell contributed nine points.
SJC led 15-12 after the first quarter but trailed by four points (34-30) at the half following a strong second quarter by the guests.
Junior N'Dea Maddox's layup 4:27 into the third quarter saw the Golden Eagles pull ahead 45-39, but Mt. St. Vincent's 14-2 run to finish the frame put the Dolphins up 53-47 and set the tone for the fourth quarter where the guests opened up a 13-point lead before clinching the 67-61 victory.
In a game that saw a combined total of 48 turnovers, SJC outrebounded its opponent 51-42 but was dominated 18-0 on the break.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, December 2 when they host Manhattanville College in a non-conference contest inside the Danzi Center at 5:00 pm. Watch/follow the action live here.
