Women’s Basketball Outpaced by Manhattanville

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team (2-5) took a 66-46 defeat to Manhattanville College (5-1) in a non-conference contest inside the Danzi Center on Saturday evening.

Senior Andrea Iavarone led the SJC offense with a team-high 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field. The forward also led the team with seven rebounds.

Fellow classman Jennifer Gubell shot 4-for-8 from three and registered 12 points. Freshman Jami Cardenas contributed seven points and six rebounds--five of which came on offense.

Manhattanville's Sam Milazzo shot 9-for-11 and posted a game-best 20 points.

In a contest that saw zero lead changes, the Valiants jumped out to an early 18-11 lead before taking a 22-14 advantage into the second quarter.

At the break, it was a 15-point lead (40-25) for the guests, who expanded it to 20 at the final buzzer (66-46).

SJC struggled from the field, shooting just 29.0%, but was better from three (23.5%-0.0%) and from the charity stripe (66.7%-59.3%).
