Farmingdale, NY| Despite game-high totals in points (16) and rebounds (21) by senior Andrea Iavarone, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team (2-6, 3-0 Skyline) dropped a 74-48 decision to Skyline Conference rival Farmingdale State College (3-6, 2-1 Skyline) on Tuesday evening.
Iavarone's 16 points came off of 6-for-9 shooting from the field. The forward also went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe and grabbed four offensive rebounds.
Freshman Jami Cardenas was 4-for-8 and dished out three assists. Sophomore Juliana Cintron-Leonardo contributed six points (3-for-5 FG) and four rebounds.
Farmingdale was led by Essence Casey who went for 14 points and seven rebounds.
Both teams shot poorly from the field, but Farmingdale held a 36.6% to 32.8% advantage over the Golden Eagles.
SJC also struggled from three (18.2%) and turned the ball over 29 times.
Iavarone was credited with 21 of St. Joseph's 45 total rebounds.
The Golden Eagles continue Skyline Conference action on Saturday, December 9 when they travel to Manhattan to take on Yeshiva University at CCNY at 8:30 pm.
