New York, NY| Senior Jennifer Gubell scored a game-high 21 points in the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team's (3-6, 1-3 Skyline) 72-49 victory over Skyline Conference rival Yeshiva University (2-8, 1-5 Skyline) at CCNY on Saturday evening.

Gubell's 21 points came courtesy of seven three-pointers. The guard was also credited with four rebounds.

Senior Andrea Iavarone went for 20 points (9-for-13 FG) and 20 rebounds to record her seventh double-double this season. Freshman Jami Cardenas contributed 13 points and six rebounds.

Yeshiva was led by Michal Alge who was credited with 17 points and 16 rebounds.

Gubell opened the scoring 1:30 into the contest with a three-pointer, giving the Golden Eagles a lead they would fail to relinquish.

At the half, it was a 14-point lead (40-26) for SJC, but an improved Yeshiva kept pace with the guests in the third quarter and entered the fourth trailing only 16 points.

But, due in part by sophomore Mackenzie Nyitray's five points in the fourth, the Golden Eagles outscored the hosts 14-7 in the final frame and earned the 23-point victory.

SJC was the better shooting team, having boasted a 43.8% shooting percentage to Yeshiva's 28.7%. The guests also shot 42.3% from three while blanking the Maccabees from beyond the arc.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, December 12 when they host John Jay College for a non-conference showdown inside the Danzi Center at 7:00 pm. Live video and stats will be available here.
