Patchogue, NY| Senior forward Andrea Iavarone of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team was named U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division III National Player of the Week by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Iavarone becomes the first player in program and Skyline Conference history to earn the honor, which is awarded to the nation's top player each week.

Additionally, Iavarone, Monday's Skyline Conference Player of the Week, earned three separate honors having been named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week late on Monday and earning Player of the Week nods from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) and the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) on Tuesday.

Iavarone's accolades come following an impressive week in which she averaged 34.5 points and 26 rebounds-per-game. In an 83-69 victory over Farmingdale State on January 22, the forward shot 14-for-26, scored 37 points and grabbed a program-best 27 rebounds. On January 27, the Miller Place, NY native went 11-for-14 from the field, 10-for-10 from the charity stripe, scored a game-best 32 points, grabbed a game-high 25 boards and was credited with six blocks in a thrilling 74-71 victory.

As of Monday afternoon, Iavarone led the conference in scoring (19.6 PPG) and rebounding (15.7 RPG) and ranked fourth in the nation in rebounds-per-game. Before play on Tuesday, she was 103 points away from becoming SJC's all-time leading scorer.

A first-time recipient of the ECAC's Division III Metro Player of the Week and the MBWA's Division II-III Player of the Week awards, Iavarone appeared on D3Hoops.com's Team of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in her career.

Iavarone and the Golden Eagles look to extend their winning streak to three games on Tuesday evening when they host Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence College inside the Danzi Center at 7:30 pm. Live links for the contest are available here
