Women's Basketball Doubles Up on Sarah Lawrence, 87-41

Bronxville, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's basketball team picked up a dominating 87-41 win over Sarah Lawrence College in the final road game on the season Thursday night.

The Golden Eagles improve to 9-15 on the season (5-11 Skyline) while the Gryphons dip to 1-21 (0-17 Skyline).

Four Golden Eagles scored in double figures, with senior Andrea Iavarone leading the way with 23 points while adding 23 rebounds and four steals. Senior Jennifer Gubell dropped in 17 points including five buckets from long distance with freshman Lindsey McKenna pitching in with 14 points and nine boards. Sophomore Juliana Cintron-Leonardo contributed double-double of 16 points and 13 boards off the bench.
 
Iavarone dropped in a layup on the first possession of the game, giving the Golden Eagles the lead for good. SJC led 16-0 holding the Gryphons scoreless through the first five minutes of play. St. Joseph's continued to pour it on throughout the first half doubling up on Sarah Lawrence 20-10 in the second quarter to head into the break with a commanding 48-17 lead. 

Citron-Leonardo led the Golden Eagles with 12 points after halftime, helping SJC stretch the lead as high as 48 late in the fourth quarter, 87-39.

SJC drilled 42.3% of its shots, including a 14-for-15 effort from the free throw line while limiting the Gryphons to just 27% shooting and forcing 21 SLC turnovers. The Golden Eagles also dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Sarah Lawrence 62-34.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center for the final time this season when they host St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn Saturday, Feb. 17. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
