Women's Basketball Falls in Final Game

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's basketball team dropped their final game of the season to St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn 76-63 Saturday afternoon in the Danzi Center.

The Golden Eagles finish the season at 9-16 with a 6-12 Skyline Conference mark. The Bears improve to 11-14 (9-9 Skyline).

Senior Andrea Iavarone led SJC-LI dropping in a team-high 27 points and matched her own single-game rebound record with 27. Sophomore Juliana Cintron-Leonardo finished in double figures with 13 points (5-for-9) and nine boards off the bench.

Four Bears finished in double digits with Victoria Porcasi knocking down a game-high 28 points with four assists.  Kelly O'Donnell came away with 12 points and six boards.  Kellie O'Neill and Caitlyn Staab had seven rebounds apiece while recording 11 and 10 points respectively.

Trailing 14-12 after the opening frame, SJC caught the Bears at 16 in the opening minutes of the second quarter, but the SJC-BK squad jumped ahead by five, 25-20, midway through the quarter. The two sides kept it close and a three ball from senior Jennifer Gubell brought the score to 35-33 at the break.

The Bears outscored the Golden Eagles 22-16 behind 55% shooting in the third quarter before closing out the 76-63 win.

The visitors outshot the home team 42.5% to 34.8% from the field, but the Golden Eagles had 76.5% to 50.0% edge at the free throw line. SJC-LI won the battle of the boards 50-45, but the Bears had the advantage in the paint 46-26.
