Women's Basketball Opens Skyline Play with First Win of 2018-19

Bronxville, NY| Freshman Alyssa Signor dropped in a game-high 21 point to guide the St. Joseph's College women's basketball team to a 67-49 victory over Sarah Lawrence College for its first win of the 2018-19 season.

The win puts the Golden Eagles at 1-5 on the season with a 1-0 start in Skyline action. The Gryphons fall to 0-3 overall, 0-2 Skyline.

Signor's 21 points came on 7-for-18 shooting from the field with a 6-for-8 finish at the free throw line. The guard added nine rebounds with three assists and three steals.

Senior Alicia Indence reached double figures with 10 points to go with four boards and two assists.

Senior N'Dea Maddox grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and four assists to go with nine points.

SJC held a slight advantage, 26-22, through the first half, but the Gryphons opened up the third quarter with back-to-back buckets to tie the game at 28. The Golden Eagles answered with 21-5 run to end the quarter for a 54-25 lead and put the game out of reach for the 67-49 win.

The Golden Eagles finished shooting 33.8% while holding the hosts to just 23.9%. SJC outrebounded Sarah Lawrence 69-46 with a 32-14 margin in the paint.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center and host Baruch College on Thursday, November 28. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
