Signor Scores 35 in Skyline Defeat

Patchogue, NY| Freshman Alyssa Signor knocked down a season-best 35 points in 91-75 defeat to St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn Saturday afternoon at the Danzi Center.

The lost moved the Golden Eagles to 2-8 on the season with a 1-4 Skyline record. The Bears improve to 6-3 overall, 5-1 Skyline.

Signor's 35 points led all players and the guard also provided three rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

Senior Alicia Indence dropped in 16 points, 15 coming from three-point range, and dished four assists. Junior Juliana Cintron-Leonardo finished with a double-double of 10 points and 15 boards.

The Bears were led by a 30 point performance from Caitlyn Staab. Victoria Porcasi pitched in with 27 points and a game-best eight assists. Lauren Quesada recorded a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds. Kelly O'Donnell rounded out the top scorers with 10 points.

A slow start saw the Golden Eagles trailing 47-26 at the break. But the hosts outscored the visitors 22-20 in the third quarter to move the score to 67-48.

After the Bears opened the fourth frame with six unanswered points, the Golden Eagles went on a 21-10 streak to pull within 11, 82-71, but a strong finish from the Bears secured the 91-75 win.

SJC-BK shot 48.1% from the field while holding SJC-LI to 35.7%. The Bears held a 47-40 rebound advantage with a 58-30 margin in the paint.

The Golden Eagles return to action when they travel to Purchase College on Thursday, January 3. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
