Hartford, CT| Freshman Alyssa Signor scored a game-high 16 points but the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team took an 88-40 road defeat at Trinity College on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 2-15 on the year as the Bantams improve to 15-3.
Signor's 16 points came off of 6-for-20 shooting from the field. The guard also contributed five rebounds and three steals.
Junior Juliana Cintron-Leonardo shot 4-for-8 from the field and contributed eight points and seven rebounds. Senior Alicia Indence also scored eight points.
Freshman Katie Keese was a 2-for-5 shooter from the field and scored a season-best six points.
All 14 players for Trinity scored in the contest, but Courtney Erickson's 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting were a team-high.
SJC never led in the contest and fell behind early. After trailing 21-10 at the end of the first, the Golden Eagles faced a 20-point deficit at the half. Trinity never let up and led by as many as 50 points en route to an 88-40 victory.
The guests struggled from the field and from beyond the arc, shooting 30% and 20%, respectively. The Bantams were 55.2% efficient from the field and outscored SJC 55-10 from the bench.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, January 27 when they host Yeshiva University for a Skyline Conference contest at 3:00 pm.
