Second Half Surge Sends Purchase Over Women's Basketball, 65-52

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's basketball team dropped a Skyline Conference contest 65-52 to SUNY Purchase on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles slide to 3-20 on the season with a 2-14 conference record. The Panthers improve to 12-11 overall and even out at 8-8 in Skyline play.

Senior Alicia Indence knocked down a career-best 27 points on 9-for-18 shooting from the field and went 6-for-11 from three-point range. Freshman Alyssa Signor finished in double figures with 11 points and was credited with four assists.

Junior Juliana Cintron-Leonardo finished with a team-high 13 rebounds.

Shadai Plowden led the Panthers with 22 points going 10-for-14 from the field. Dejeana Peoples and Nyasia Harris contributed with 13 points apiece with the latter grabbing a team-high eight boards.

The Golden Eagles built a 36-23 lead in the first half, but the Panthers opened the third with seven unanswered en route to a 22 –point quarter while holding SJC to just six to head into the final frame leading 45-42. The hosts went on to outscore the visitors 20-10 in the fourth to secure the 65-52 win.

The Panthers outshot SJC from the field (39.1% to 35.3%), as well as outrebounding the Golden Eagles 45-29.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center on Tuesday, February 12 when they host Mt. St. Mary's College for a Skyline Conference matchup. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
