Double Hats off as Ferchland Leads Lady Eagles Past Ramapo

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's women's lacrosse team (12-5) won its opening round playoff game with an 18-5 win over the Roadrunners of Ramapo College (5-11).

Freshman attack Heather Ferchland (Selden, N.Y. / Centereach) led the way for the Eagles with an eye-popping seven goals. She matched Ramapo's total for the game, in the first fourteen minutes of the game.

Senior Jackie Myers (Coram, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) had a hat trick of her own, scoring three goals while adding four assists. Sophomore middie Gina Guardino (Lindenhurst, N.Y. / Lindenhurst) added two goals. Sophomore Caitlynn Webber (Eastport, N.Y. / Eastport-South Manor) was unbeatable on the draw, winning 11 draw controls for the Lady Eagles.

The St. Joseph's defense was too much for the Roadrunners to overcome and forced 31 turnovers. They held Ramapo to just nine shots for the entire game, while attempting 32 of their own.

The Lady Eagles will travel to face the #2 Montclair State Red Hawks (13-3) on Thursday April 25th at 4:00 p.m.  St. Joseph's will look to avenge a 15-13 regular season loss to the Red Hawks in this Skyline Tournament semifinal matchup.
