Press Release from the Skyline Conference

2013 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

New York, N.Y. – Montclair State sophomore Tierney Conlon has been named the 2013 Skyline Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's 11 head coaches.

The Skyline coaches also selected Lindsay Hughes of Ramapo as Rookie of the Year, while Nicol Parcelluzzi of Montclair State and Robert Vlahakis of St. Joseph's-L.I. garnered Coach of the Year distinction.  In addition, St. Joseph's-L.I. received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Conlon ranks second nationally in both assists (74) and points (127) while compiling 53 goals and 27 ground balls.  The Caldwell, N.J., resident has tallied four game-winning goals and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2013 Skyline Championship after scoring six goals in the Red Hawks' 16-13 win over Farmingdale State on Apr. 27 for the program's fourth consecutive league crown.  Conlon earned Rookie of the Year distinction a year ago and was a three-time Player of the Week selection in 2013.

Hughes has scored 93 goals – good for second nationally – and ranks second in the conference with 105 points and five game-winning goals.  A four-time Rookie of the Week honoree, the midfielder from Milford, N.J., leads Ramapo in shots (181), ground balls (37) and caused turnovers (24).

Conlon and Hughes are joined on the All-Conference first team by Kailee Beal, Tiffani Henderson, Kelly Schoneveld and Kelcie Wavra of Montclair State; Farmingdale State's Jillian Pironti, Carly Schneider and Christy Thoden; Heather Ferchland and Nicole Lyman of St. Joseph'-L.I.; Kean's Lyndsey Cannon and Stephanie Tocko; and Claire Duffy of Mount Saint Mary.

The second-team All-Conference includes Mount Saint Vincent's Nicole Flores and Colleen Walsh; Kelly Bachovchin and Jules Keeley of Kean; Farmingdale State's Jackie Kennedy and Nicole Marzocca; Alexa Pajak of Sage; Montclair State's Jenna Bussiere and Krissa Henderson; Leanne Lavelle of Maritime; Karalyn Tetelman of St. Joseph's-L.I.; and Mount Saint Mary's Nicole Scicutella and Kaileen Spadaro.

Now in her eighth season, Parcelluzzi has guided Montclair State to a program record-tying 15 victories and its fourth consecutive Skyline Championship.  In addition, the Red Hawks' 16-13 win over Farmingdale State in the finals on Apr. 27 marked her 100th career victory.  She earns Skyline Coach of the Year honors for the fifth time.

After guiding St. Joseph's-L.I. to a 9-9 mark a year ago in the program's inaugural season,  Vlahakis led the Golden Eagles to an 8-2 record in conference play and a berth in the 2013 Skyline semifinals.  St. Joseph's-L.I. has compiled a 12-6 overall ledger while outscoring its opponents by a 240-150 margin.
