SJC Lacrosse to Host Girls & Boys Camps This Summer

Patchogue, N.Y. - The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse program is pleased to announce the addition of three new summer lacrosse camps designed for both boys and girls this summer. The camps will run on the new state-of-the-art turf field at Danzi Stadium in Patchogue.

St. Joseph's head coach Bob Vlahakis will be running the girls camp called "Camp of Champions" for K - 8th graders, featuring small group skill work and mini games to enhance and develop young female players. It is designed to accommodate both the most experienced player and also beginners who have never played the game.  The small group sessions allow players to progress at their appropriate rate. The camp will emphasize all aspects of the game with a special emphasis on fundamentals, the basic foundation upon which all of Coach V's State Championship teams were developed.

Teaming up with his son Peter Vlahakis, an accomplished and veteran professional lacrosse player and coach, they will bring two boys camps designed for 4th-8th graders in a very special format allowing for not only skill development and teaching but also small sided competitive games.

Peter has the coaching touch to introduce newcomers to the game, while also challenging and pushing the most skilled to a higher level.  Vlahakis was an offensive star at Shoreham-Wading River High School, winning the Ray Enners  Award for the Suffolk County Player-of-the-Year in 2000, and then going on to dominate the collegiate and professional ranks at the face-off circle.
