Oswego St.’s Magical Second Half Downs Eagles in Disney World

Orlando, Fla. – The Lady Eagles (4-2) dropped the first of two games during their trip to Disney's Wide World of Sports. This past Monday they were defeated by the Oswego St. Lakers 15-10, after trailing by just one at halftime.

Jessica Cordano (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) got the Eagles offense started early with a shot in the first minute but the keeper held on to the ball. Oswego got on the board with a goal eight minutes into the first half and their offense never slowed down as they put three more shots in the net to take a 4-0 lead with 14 minutes remaining in the half.

But the Eagles didn't come thousands of miles to get shutout. Caitlynn Webber (Eastport, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) scored an unassisted goal at the 13:34 mark. Kristine Minogue (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) and Heather Ferchland (Selden, N.Y./Centereach) scored on free position shots to bring the Eagles within one goal and with eight minutes remaining, Minogue put in another free position shot. The Eagles took the lead on another Ferchland free position goal but Oswego came battling back with two goals in the final two minutes to take a 6-5 lead into halftime.

Just as they did in the first half, the Lakers scored four unanswered goals to extend their lead to five but once again back came the resilient Eagles with two goals from Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and the hat-trick from Minogue to cut the deficit to two goals. The Lakers scored the next four goals to take a six goal lead. Ferchland scored her third and fourth goals but the Eagles ultimately fell 15-10.

Ferchland put in four goals and Minogue finished with the hat-trick.
