Eagles Lacrosse Swamps Sage Gators With Offensive Outburst

Troy, N.Y. – The Lady Eagles (6-2, 1-0 Skyline) returned back to New York and picked up right where they left off in Florida with a 19-4 commanding road victory over the Sage Gators (1-3, 0-1 Skyline). Heather Ferchland (Selden, N.Y./Centereach, N.Y.) and Tori Gregson (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) continued their offensive assault, scoring five and three goals, respectively, totaling eight goals for each over the last two games.

Gregson got the Eagles started with a goal just a minute into the game. Just two minutes later, Jenna Kelleher (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) found Caitlyn Webber (Eastport, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) for the second goal of the day. Sage got one back but Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y./Islip) scored from a free position at the 25 minute mark of the half. Kelleher put two goals in to extend the Eagles' lead to four and Ferchland notched her first of five on the day on a free position shot. The Lady Eagles held a 7-2 lead with just ten minutes remaining when Jessica Cordano (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) assisted on three goals in a two-minute time span. Two of the goals completed Gregson's hat-trick and the other was scored by Kristine Minogue (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place).  SJC entered halftime with a 10-2 lead.

Sage pulled within seven early in the second half but the Eagles scored five straight goals to put the game out of reach. Ferchland put in three of the five as Minogue and Graceann Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) were the other two scorers to seal the victory for the Eagles. At the 9:16 mark of the second half, Ferchland put in her fifth goal on the day, giving her 12 in the last three games and hat-tricks in three straight. The Eagles tacked on two more goals on their way to a 17-4 win.

Ferchland scored five goals on eight shots. Cordano dished out four assists and Gregson scored three for the second straight game. Minogue, Igdeler, and Kelleher all scored multiple times.

The Eagles will travel to Wesleyan College this Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. before returning home to play Purchase on Friday night.
