Fourth 19-Goal Outing for Lax as WIn Streak Extends to Eight

Patchogue, N.Y. - Lady Golden Eagles midfielder Heather Ferchland (Selden, N.Y./ Centereach) scored six points for the third time this season, helping St. Joseph's College's women's lacrosse team (9-3, 5-0 Skyline) remain perfect in Skyline Conference competition after torching the Old Westbury Panthers (2-8,1-4 Skyline), 19-7, Tuesday night at the Danzi Stadium.

Ferchland recorded a game-high five goals off seven shots, while adding an assist, four groundballs, and forcing four turnovers. SJC also received big games from midfielders Jessica Cordano (Oakdale, N.Y./ Connetquot), who had a two goal and four assist night, and Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y./ Islip), who had two scores and two helpers.

The Golden Eagles were in a tight game through the first period with both clubs exchanging goals. Ferchland notched SJC's first goal of the game, which was later followed by a Panther goal.

At 7:20, SJC was able to build an 8-4 advantage after Nicole Lyman (West Babylon, N.Y./ West Babylon) blasted an unassisted goal past Old Westbury's goalkeeper. Again, the visitors would respond, scoring two unanswered goals to send the game into intermission with an 8-6 SJC lead.

In the second half, St. Joseph's offense was ignited as they went on an 11-1 scoring rampage, which starred seven different Golden Eagle scorers.  Igdeler was able to find Ferchland cutting to the crease to begin the period with two quick scores to open the goal frenzy.

Senior Graceann Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y./ Kings Park) picked up SJC's 16 goal of the tilt, for a ten goal lead at 11:57 to send the clock into running time. However, the visitors would go on to score one more goal, but didn't get any closer as the Golden Eagles poured on three more to finish-off the Panthers.

St. Joseph's held a 39-23 advantage in shots, gathered 24 ground balls to Old Westbury's 17, and won the draw circle skirmish 16-12.

Golden Eagle goalkeeper Courtney Wickline (Medford, N.Y./ Bellport) recorded a 56.3 save percentage, stopping nine total shots.

St. Joseph's will return to action this Saturday for an away Skyline Conference contest against the Purchase Panthers (10-1, 4-1 Skyline) at 1:00 p.m.
