Lacrosse Cashes in With Uneven Win Over Purchase, 19-4

Purchase, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's women's lacrosse team (10-3, 6-0 SKY) continued to roll through Skyline Conference opponents yesterday after defeating the Purchase Panthers (11-2, 4-2 SKY) handily, 19-4.  With the win the Golden Eagles assured themselves one of the top two seeds in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament, as they try to finish the regular season unbeaten and in at least a tie for first place.  They have one more Skyline game remaining next Saturday against Mount Saint Mary, who sits behind SJC one game back at 5-1.

Leading the offensive attack for the Golden Eagles was Heather Ferchland and Ela Igdeler with four goals and three assists apiece.  Tricia Barrett also scored four times with an assist, while Kristin Carroll and Kacie Mitterando tallied two goals each.  Ally Johnston and Meaghan Haber obtained SJC's other two scores.  Reigning Skyline Player of the Week Caitlynn Webber totaled three assists.

Igdeler amassed seven draw controls and Ferchland five.  Nicole Lyman had three draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover.

Courtney Wickline (10-3) played the first 44 minutes for SJC and got credit for the win with three saves.

St. Joseph's has a quick turnaround as they play a tough Drew University team in a non-conference game tomorrow at noon.
