Magnificent Seven W. Lacrosse Players Named to 2015 All-Skyline Team, Vlahakis Wins Coach of the Year

New York, N.Y. – St. Joseph's women's lacrosse has garnered seven positions on the 2015 All-Skyline Conference Team in voting conducted among the Conference's eight head coaches. Earning the honor are seniors Caitlynn Webber, Nicole Lyman, and Ela Igdeler, juniors Heather Ferchland and Jessica Cordano, sophomore Courtney Wickline and freshman Kristin Carroll.

Golden Eagles head coach Bob Vlahakis has been named Skyline Coach of the Year.

Farmingdale State senior midfielder Nicole Marzocca has been named the 2015 Skyline Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year and selected Zoe Hines of Purchase as Rookie of the Year

Marzocca has registered a league-best 47 assists while adding a team-high 39 goals. Twice named the Skyline Player of the Week in 2015, the North Babylon, N.Y., resident has amassed 45 ground balls, 55 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers. Marzocca boasts 10 multi-goal performances this season, including five-goal efforts in wins over both Elmira (Apr. 13) and Mount Saint Mary (Apr. 18). She is a four-time All-Conference selection, including a two-time first-team honoree.

A five-time Rookie of the Week selection, Hines ranks among the conference leaders in goals (61), assists (26) and points (87) and leads PC with three game-winning goals. The freshman attack from Maplewood, N.J., tallied 27 goals in Skyline play and has compiled 25 draw controls, 24 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers on the year.

Marzocca and Hines are joined on the All-Conference first-team by Mount Saint Mary's Claire Duffy, Katie Gattoni and Nicole Scicutella; Heather Ferchland, Ela Igdeler, Nicole Lyman, Caitlynn Webber and Courtney Wickline of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Farmingdale State's Kristine Minogue, Christy Thoden, Sara Rivadeneyra and Krista Spagnoletta; and Samantha Rich of Purchase.

The second-team All-Conference includes Old Westbury's Sara Bey and Courtney Gallagher; Kelly Fraser of Mount Saint Vincent; Maritime's Paige Frankel and Leanne Lavelle; Jessica Cordano and Kristin Carroll of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Farmingdale State's Alyssa Handel, Jackie Kennedy and Kristen Ranaldo; Nathalie Lavelanet of Purchase; and Jena Jacot and Jackie St. Pierre of Sage.

Now in his fourth season, Vlahakis guided the Golden Eagles to a perfect 7-0 Skyline regular season mark before capturing their first-ever league crown with a 7-5 win over Farmingdale State on May 2. SJC (13-4) will face Keene State on May 9 in the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. Vlahakis earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Stony Brook, and previously received Skyline Coach of the Year honors in 2013. He is assisted by Michelle Monahan, Mark Russell and Kristen Znaniecki.
