Hilton Head, SC| Despite a four-point performance from Brooke Kreuscher and Nicole Stoppelli, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-10 contest to Allegheny College on Monday afternoon at Hilton Head Prep. With the loss the Golden Eagles fall to 1-5 on the year and the Gators improve to 3-1.
The Golden Eagles found themselves trailing 2-0 early in the first half before Stoppelli SJC's first goal. Allegheny went on a 7-0 run until the 10:52 when Diana Johnston answered back with a pair of goals and Kreucsher tallied a goal shortly after to cut SJC's deficit, 9-4. After a goal by the Gators, the Golden Eagles closed out the half with back-to-back goals form Kristin Carroll and Stoppeli to go into the half trailing 10-6.
The Golden Eagles came within three (11-8) after Emily Fey fired a shot behind the cage, however, the Gators rallied off with four-straight goals to extend their lead to seven goals (15-8). Kreuscher tallied her third goal to stop the rally but it wasn't enough as the Gators upended SJC 16-10.
