Women's Lacrosse Extends Winning Streak to Four in 19-3 Win Over Dolphins

Riverdale, NY| Nine Golden Eagles score as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team wins its fourth-straight contest taking down the College of Mount St. Vincent, 19-3, in a Skyline Conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 5-8 (4-1 Skyline), while the Dolphins fall to 1-9 (0-4).

Tricia Barrett matched her career-high in goals (5) and tallied two assists for a career-high seven points, Nicole Stoppelli also tallied a career-high in points (7) scoring her fifth hat trick of the year. Diana Johnston, Brooke Kreuscher, Kristin Carroll, and Ally Johnston each scored two goals apiece.

SJC never trailed in the contest and held a 3-0 lead at the 24:11 mark. CMSV's Shannon Dalton scored an unassisted goal with 21:10 on the clock, before Barrett answered back with a goal off the sticks of Hillman 25 seconds later sparking a 6-0 run into the break. Stoppelli had a goal and two assists during the run, and D. Johnston capped the offensive outburst with a goal at the 3:05 mark to give the Golden Eagles a 10-1 halftime lead.

The second half started much like the first as the Golden Eagles tallied six goals, where Barrett (3), Stoppelli (2), and A. Johnston (1) all found that back of the net to give SJC a 15-point lead (16-1) at the 16:45 mark.  The Dolphins halted SJC's run at 15:08 with a goal of their own but after another trade of goals, Kreuscher and D. Johnston scored the game's final two goals at the five and four minute marks to walk away with the 19-3 win.

Melanie Cervone, Emily Fey, and Alexis Hillman all contributed with a goal in the contest, and Johnston led the team in draw control victories with seven.

The Golden Eagles' defense allowed just 10 shots on the afternoon, and goalie Lindsay Ramos was credited with the win, stopping four out of the seven shots she saw.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, April 14 when the host the Israel National Women's Team at Danzi Stadium at 1:30 PM.
