Kreuscher Tallies 7 Goals as Women's Lacrosse Clinches Second Seed on Senior Day

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team earns its sixth-straight playoff bid, clinching the #2 seed in the Skyline Conference Championship with a 19-5 win over the Sage Colleges in the team's final game of the regular season on Saturday evening. The Golden Eagles conclude their regular season campaign 8-8 (7-1), while the Gators finish with a 7-8 (4-4) record.

Brooke Kreuscher lead the way for the Golden Eagles tallying a career-best seven goals and contributed with three assists for a total of 10 points. Tricia Barrett also had a career-best in goals with five on the afternoon. Diana Johnston tallied a trio of goals while senior Kelly Walsh tallied her first two goals of her career on the evening.

Kristin Carroll tallied the game's first goal at the 26:13 mark before a goal by Kreuscher doubled SJC's lead at the 24:22 mark. Sage tallied its first goal at 24:09 but the Golden Eagles rattled off four straight to hold a 6-1 lead 10 minutes into the first. SJC continued to attack the cage and widen its lead with another four-goal run to take a 10-2 lead. Sage tallied a goal at the 4:17 but the Golden Eagles closed off the first half with a 3-0 run to take a 10-point 13-3 lead.

The second half started much like the first as Kreuscher scored a trio of goals between in a five-minute span, as Johnston capped off SJC's run at 19:08 to go-ahead of the Gators 18-3. Sage tallied back-to-back goals at 11:57 and 9:07 but it was Kreuscher again who tallied the game's final mark to give the Golden Eagles soar past Sage 19-5.
