Women's Lacrosse Sees Its Season End At Skyline Championship

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end at the Skyline Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon with a 16-5 loss to top-seeded Farmingdale State.

The Rams, who are conference champions for the first time since 2014, continue their season with a 17-1 record as the Golden Eagles wrap their year out with a 9-9 record.

Brooke Kreuscher  tallied the game's opening goal less than a minute into the contest, but Farmingdale sparked an 8-0 run from 27:29-7:38 to take an 8-1 lead. Diana Johnston would end SJC's skid, but Farmingdale scored a trio of goals to take an 11-2 lead into the break.

The Golden Eagles started second with a goal by Nicole Stoppelli to cut the deficit to eight (11-3) at 28:18, but Farmingdale went for four-straight in a span of 10 minutes to pull ahead 15-3.

Back-to-back goals by Stoppelli and Tricia Barrett with 9:07 and 5:48 pulled SJC within 10 (15-5), but by then the lead was too great as SJC eventually fell 16-5.

Stoppelli led the team in points with three and concludes the season with 76 points, which is fourth-most in a single season in program history.

Barrett, who concluded her collegiate career, is now seventh in the program in career points (91), third in goals (74), and sixth in games played. Kreuscher's 78 points were the second-highest total in a single season in program history, and her 50 goals were fifth highest.
